Dotwork and lettering are the sharpest, most precise end of the black ink we work in. At Blacklow Studio in Petitenget — a few minutes from Seminyak, Kerobokan and Canggu — founder Wahyu builds shade one dot at a time and carves lettering that holds its structure for decades. It's exacting, patient work, laid in solid black at our Seminyak-side studio.
Dotwork & sacred geometry
Dotwork builds tone out of thousands of tiny black dots rather than solid fills — the closer the dots, the deeper the shade. It's made for mandalas, sacred geometry and ornamental fields. If a mandala is on your mind, read what mandala & sacred-geometry tattoos mean and see more ornamental blackwork.
Blackletter & script
On the lettering side, Wahyu draws blackletter, gothic and script work cut sharp: a word, a name, a date, or a full ornamental phrase carried for life. Precision is the whole point — lines clean enough to read across a room, built to stay that way.
Who it's for
- Mandalas & geometry — dotwork ornament on chest, spine or sleeve.
- Lettering — blackletter, script and single-word statement pieces.
- Ornamental fields — sacred pattern that frames or extends existing work.
- Fine detail — tight, high-contrast blackwork detail and filler.
